The capstone project is a culmination of the Financial Analytics course, designed to enable participants to apply advanced analytical frameworks and state-of-the-art tools to real-world financial scenarios. Leveraging the comprehensive skill set developed throughout the course, learners will use data-driven financial analysis to uncover key insights to drive strategic business decisions. The project emphasizes the practical integration of financial analytics concepts with hands-on experience. It enables participants to transform complex financial data into actionable intelligence and position themselves as a strategic asset in their organizations' financial decision-making processes.
The course is designed to include lectures by XLRI faculty and will be taught through presentations, exercises, and general discussions. As an applied course, most sessions will be conducted as workshops to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge. The programme will include:
Decision Trees and other ML tools for Credit Scoring
Open AI / Generative AI Applications in Financial Analytics
Neural Network (NN) Models for Stock Price Prediction
Building a Trading Model and performing Back Testing
Value-at-Risk (VaR) Estimation
Back Testing of Portfolio Models (Modern Portfolio Theory)
Sentiment Analytics (text Analytics) using NLP or LLM
Valuation Analytics
ML model to analyse and identify financial fraud

The programme provides in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of global financial analytics practices. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
Master financial data analysis using R and Python for accurate and insightful financial forecasting.
Develop predictive models to enhance decision-making and investment strategies.
Execute fraud detection and prevention using advanced machine learning techniques.
Perform comprehensive sentiment and technical analysis to gauge market trends.
Optimise investment portfolios by applying deep learning and quantitative analysis.
Integrate financial data with external sources for robust, data-driven business insights
A minimum of 70% attendance to the live lectures is a prerequisite for the successful completion of this programme. In addition, there will be two quizzes and one assignment. The evaluations are designed to ensure continuous student engagement with the course and encourage learning. Participants who successfully complete the evaluations along with the requisite attendance criteria, a course-end assessment and project work will be awarded a certificate of completion by XLRI. Participants who are unable to clear the evaluation criteria but have the requisite attendance will be awarded a participation certificate by XLRI.
